Resolution

Disable the firewall and antivirus

  1. Turn off the antivirus and firewall on the server.
  2. Verify that the data file opens.
  3. If the file opens contact a computer technician to allow 50 through the firewall and antivirus.

Restart the computer

  1. Reboot the computer where you've located the file.
  2. Try opening the file again.

Move the data file to the local computer

  1. Copy the data file from the server to your local computer.
  2. Open the company file from the local computer.
  3. If the file doesn't open, restore the latest backup to the server.
  4. If the file opens, close the company file.
  5. Reboot the server.
  6. Move the data file back to the server and replace the old file that wan't opening.
  7. Delete the data file copy from the local computer.

End Sage 50 processes in the Task Manager

  1. Close all instances of Sage 50 Accounting on all machines.
  2. Open the Task Manager on the computer that stores the data.
    • You can do so by holding the Ctrl + Alt + Del keys and then selecting Task Manager
  3. Click the Processes tab.
  4. Select the checkbox that states Show processes from all users.
  5. Find the mysqld.exe process and click End Process.
  6. Locate the company file and open the SAJ folder.
  7. Delete the process.pid file.

Ensure the file isn't in single-user mode

  1. Check that the company isn't already open on the Task Bar.
  2. Verify if other users have opened the company in single-user mode.
    • Locate the machine that has opened in single-user mode and go to File, Switch to Multi-User Mode
