How to migrate from Sage Accounting to Sage 50 Accounting

NOTE:

Pre-requisites 

  • Get a Sage 50 CT subscription separate from Sage Accounting
  • Install the latest version of Sage 50
  • Activate Sage 50 with a Sage 50 CT subscription or SAN membership
  • Sage 50 must not be in trial mode

 How to integrate

Preliminary setup in Sage 50 Accounting

  1. Log in to your Sage account. Go to mysageone.ca.sageone.com.
  2. Create a new Sage 50 file if one doesn’t exist.
  3. Select a default generic chart of accounts.
  4. Go to Setup, User Preferences, View, and enable Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Inventory.
  5. Create an expense account named "Opening Balances Control Account" using a new 5000 series number.
  6. Go to Setup, Settings, Inventory, Options, and clear Allow inventory levels to go below zero.
  7. In Sage Accounting, go to SettingsOpening BalancesGeneral Ledger.
  8. Use the listed date as the Fiscal Year End in Sage 50.
  9. Set the Fiscal Start date to a prior year or confirm with an accountant.
  10. Set all Stock Items expense accounts to Cost of Goods.
  11. Don’t use an inventory asset account.
  12. Change items to Non-Stock if no transactions exist.
  13. Create a Sage 50 backup named "Sage Accounting Integration" with the company name and date.

CAUTION:

Don’t restore backups, disconnect the integration, or run the wizard again after this point.

Follow the Sage 50 integration wizard to finish the setup

  1. Log in as sysadmin in Single-User mode and close other windows.
  2. Create a backup if you haven’t completed one.
  3. Go to File, Sage Accounting, Set up Connection.
  4. Sign in with your Sage account email.
  5. Click Allow in the authorization window.
  6. Select your Sage Accounting company from the list.
  7. Choose Auto Setup.
  8. Click Start.
  9. Click Finish after the success message appears.

Downloading Sage Accounting transactions

  1. Go to Setup, Settings, Company, Information, Current Year Dates.
  2. Set the download period.
  3. Go to File, Sage Accounting, Download Transactions.
  4. Run Start Connection Wizard if mapping errors appear.
  5. Configure linked accounts.
  6. Leave Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable unmapped.
  7. Compare Sage 50 financials with Sage Accounting.
  8. Repeat downloads until you import all transactions.
  9. Confirm the system displays Download Complete.
  10. Click OK.
