When opening the data file after updating to the latest version

 NOTE: Make sure you're opening the data file from the latest version. 

  1. Click the Windows Start Menu and type “Sage 50” in the search bar.
  2. Select the latest version of Sage 50 from the list and click to open it.
  3. Open your data file.
  4. Remove older version icons from your desktop.

Check the system requirements

The file is on your local machine

  1. Right-click the Windows Start button.
  2. Click Apps and Features.
  3. Verify MySQL Connector/ODBC 5.2(a) and MySQL Connector/ODBC 3.51 programs exist. 

The file is on an external hard drive

The file is on a different computer/server

  1. Install the latest version of Sage 50 on all computers.
  2. Verify the sample company opens.
  3. Copy the company file to your local computer.
  4. Disable the firewall on the server
  5. Connect to the data using the IP address instead of the computer name (or mapped drive).
  6. If there are other company files on the same server and the same location, verify you can open them.
    • If other company files from the same location open but this still won't open, contact Technical Support for a password reset.

Ensure the server and workstation are on private networking

  1. Click the Windows Start menu.
  2. Type homegroup, then select HomeGroup from the search results.
  3. Select Change network location.
  4. Select Discoverable Yes.
  5. Right-click the WiFi or Wired network icon in the system tray.
  6. Select Open Network and Sharing Center.
  7. Verify the network shows as a Private network then close the window.
  8. Verify you can open the company.
