Check for RDA outages

  1. Check for RDA outage on the Sage status page.
  2. If there’s a service outage, wait and re-open your data file when there's no outage.

Close and re-open the file

  1. Open the data file.
  2. On the Single-User, Multi-User, Read-Only window, click Cancel.
  3. Re-open the data file and verify there's no error message.

Close active processes

  1. Close all open Sage 50 companies.
  2. On the computer where you get the error, open the Sage 50 Connection Manager.
  3. Confirm both Total connections and Active companies say 0. If they don’t, wait for the files to finish closing.
  4. Click Stop service. If prompted, click Yes.
  5. Click Start service. If prompted, click Yes.
  6. Hold the Ctrl + Alt + Del keys on your keyboard, then choosing Start Task Manager.
  7. Click the Processes tab.
  8. If there’s a button or a checkbox that states Show processes from all users, select it.
  9. Find any file related to mysqld.exe and click End Process.
  10. Open the SAJ company folder.
  11. Delete the process.pid file.
  12. If the problem persists, reboot the computer where you keep the data.

The file won’t open on any computer

  1. Restore a recent backup. The restored backup won’t be on RDA anymore.
  2. Re-enter any missing journal entries.
  3. If you don’t have a recent backup to restore, save a non-shared copy of your company file.
  4. Open this non-shared copy and make sure the transactions are up to date.
  5. Go to Setup, Settings, Company, then Information.
  6. Add some characters in front of the company name and click OK.
  7. Re-share the file on RDA.
    • If you get the error" "A company file with the same ID is currently being shared", call support at 1 888 522 2722
  8. Go back to Setup, Settings, Company, then Information.
  9.  Change back the company name to what it was.
  10. Have all other users download the newly shared file on their computer.

The file opens on one machine, but not on a second

NOTE: Remote Data Access requires you to use a different Sage account email address on every computer.

  1. Set up a second Sage account email address
  2. Log in to the company file using the second Sage account email address.
  3. If the file still doesn’t open:
    • Open the file on the computer where it opens
    • Log in as sysadmin in single-user mode
    • Go to File, Remote Data Access, then Pause Sharing
    • Click Resume Sharing
    • Re-download the file on the second computer
