Sage BusinessVision End of Life – Customer FAQ

▼1. Why is Sage retiring Sage BusinessVision (BV)?  

After thorough consideration and strategic planning, Sage has decided to retire all editions of Sage BV, effective December 31, 2026. 

▼2. What does End of Life (EOL) mean for my business?

After December 31, 2026, Sage will no longer provide:

  • Software updates
  • Fixes
  • Security patches
  • Technical support 

You can continue using Sage BV at your discretion. Compatibility and security risks will increase over time.

▼3. Will my Sage BV software stop working after EOL?

Your Sage BV software will continue to run on supported operating systems. However, as operating systems evolve, Sage BV can become incompatible, and Sage won’t provide updates or support.

▼4. Will there be any further Sage BV updates?

Yes, final updates in 2026:

  • January 2026 payroll update (BV 2023).
  • July 2026 payroll update (final payroll update)
  • Year-end update in November/December 2026 for T4/T5018 reporting.

After December 31, 2026, there will be no further payroll calculations, compliance, or software updates.

▼5. What are my Sage migration options? 

Sage offers resources and guidance to help you choose the right solution for your business. Most small businesses can move to Sage 50 Accounting, while larger or more complex businesses can move to Sage 300. 

  • Migration tools are available for Sage 300.
  • Sage 50 Accounting lets you export and import data lists that include:
    • customers
    • vendors
    • employees
    • inventory
    • jobs
    • accounts
    • limited transaction migration

  • Sage 300: Migration services are available through Business Partners for a fee.
  • Sage 50 Accounting: Expert Services are available for data migration. See Sage Expert Services (SES) for details and to get a consultation.

▼9. What happens to my data after EOL?

You retain access to your Sage BV data. Sage recommends regular backups and exporting your lists before migration. 

▼10. How will Sage communicate important EOL milestones and reminders? 

Sage will share updates by email. Ensure that your account contact details are current to receive communications. You can update your profile on the Sage Customer Portal.  

▼11. Are there any risks of continuing to use Sage BV after EOL?

After Sage BV reaches end of life, Sage will no provide payroll or software updates. Continuing to use the product can create compliance and technical risks. Sage won’t be responsible for any issues, losses, damages, or compliance failures resulting from continued use of Sage BV after the EOL date.

▼12. What if I need more time to transition?

You can continue using Sage BV after December 31, 2026, but Sage will no longer provide support, software updates, and payroll updates. 

▼13. What if I have integrations or Independent Software Vendor (ISV) solutions tied to Sage BV? 

Sage 50 Accounting or Sage 300 don't support all integrations. Customers using ISV solutions should work with Sage or their partners to review compatibility and migration options.

▼14. What happens if I renew my Business Care plan after the EOL announcement?

Business Care plans give you access to important updates and support. When you renew, we prorate your services to align with the EOL date and help reduce the impact on your business. 

▼15. Will I receive a refund or prorated plan if I renew close to EOL? 

We prorate Business Care plans and renewals to align with the EOL date. 

▼16. How can I resolve technical issues after EOL? 

After December 31, 2026, Sage will no longer provide Sage BV support. Contact a certified Sage Partner or another third-party provider for assistance. The Sage BV Community Hub discussion forum will remain available for questions and knowledge sharing.  

▼17. What actions do I need to take?
