CAUTION: Use caution when working with the below product functionality. Always create a backup of your data before proceeding with advanced solutions. If necessary, seek the assistance of a qualified Sage business partner, network administrator, or Sage customer support analyst.
CAUTION: Sage support can't assist with third-party products, hardware, report customizations, or state and federal tax questions. Refer to our Scope of Support for more info. Contact your Sage business partner, network administrator, or accountant for assistance.

Important Note: You should back up Company Folders at least daily. We always recommend making full backups. We advise against making Incremental or Differential backups. If you need to restore these types of backups for any reason, they may result in incomplete data files.

When creating a backup of your Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate system, you must include:

  • 9.5 Folder
    • This folder contains security files, reports, report menus, inquiries, formula files, dictionary files, log files and possibly payroll tax files. Back up this folder every time you make a backup. Most of your company’s customization of the Sage 300 CRE program is stored within this folder on the server.
    • This folder is located on the file server. Depending on the operating system, this folder is located at C:\ProgramData\Sage\Timberline Office\9.5.
  • Company Folders
    • These folders contain the accounting data and transaction files. There will be typically one folder per company within Sage 300 CRE.
    • The company files or data files can be anywhere on the computer system that is local to the Pervasive/Actian engine. If you are unsure of the location of these data files, contact your system administrator. Also, if a Sage 300 CRE Application Administrator is available, they can view the path to the company folder in the Select Company window in Security Administration.
  • Other File locations:
    • You could have payroll tax files stored in Program Files\Timberline Office\Misc folder. You might have custom reports stored in an alternate location, too.
    • Verify if you have files stored in other locations:
      1. Open Sage Desktop.
      2. Go to File locations and review the paths listed:
        • Version 16.1 and newer: browse to Applications, Common Tasks, File, Company Settings, File Locations.
        • Version 15.1 and older: browse to Tasks, Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate, Common Tasks, File, Company Settings, File Locations.
      3. Confirm that your backups include all the locations referenced.
