ARCHIVED:How do automatic backups work in a company file shared with Remote Data Access?

Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

Auto-backup steps using Remote Data Access in Sage 50 Accounting.

Description

  • If I use Remote Data Access (RDA) in multi-user mode, will all users get automatic backups saved on their computer?
  • I scheduled daily automatic backups for my shared company file. When are they going to be triggered?

Resolution

  1. If you open the shared file in multi-user mode, there will be no automatic backup when you close it.
  2. Automatic backups are only triggered when in single-user mode.
  3. Daily automatic backups are triggered when the file is closed for the first time in the day.
  4. Scheduled Backup settings are for all users. Therefore the path to save the backup files should be valid on all computers.
  5. If scheduled backups are set to Daily and a user of the shared company has already triggered an automatic backup, then no other automatic backup will be triggered by another user of the shared company for this said day.
  6. You will get a message saying "You are about to close this company. If you wish to back up your data, reopen in single-user mode and choose Backup from the File Menu. Do you wish to continue without making a backup?" if backup reminders are activated and you were in multi-user mode when closing the company.
  7. If you get a message saying “Sage 50 is not responding” while the backup is being saved, wait a bit and the backup will be completed.
