Restart the computer

  1. Restart the computer.
  2. Check the performance.

Reinstall Sage 50

  1. Reinstall Sage 50.
  2. Check the performance.

Run Sage 50 as administrator

  1. Run Sage 50 as administrator.
  2. Check the performance.

Check the user preferences

  1. Go to SetupUser Preferences, then Options.
  2. Unselect the Automatically Refresh Lists checkbox.
  3. Unselect Calculate Record Balances in Home Window Lists by Session Date and Automatically Refresh Record Balances checkboxes.
  4. Check the performance.

Posting transactions takes a long time

  1. If posting invoices takes a long time, check the form settings.
  2. If posting journal entries takes a long time, verify that data tracing is on.

Open the company file locally

  1. Verify if the sample company is opening and working.
  2. If the sample company works, create a backup of your existing data and restore it to C://Sage.
  3. If the data was on a network, consult with your network technician about the performance issue.

Increase the Connection Manager memory buffer size

  1. Close Sage 50.
  2. Click Windows system tray icons, and open Sage 50 Connection Manager.
  3. Change the default 56 to 128 Memory buffer size.
  4. Click Stop Service and then Start service to restart the Connection Manager.

Remove Adware and Spyware

  • Run a known security solution that removes both adware and malware
  • See your Information Technology (IT) professional for advice

Disable Virtual Private Network (VPN)

  • If you use a VPN, disable it temporarily and enable it after using Sage 50
  • Contact your IT professional for assistance if needed

Clean Windows temp folder

 NOTE: An IT professional must complete these steps. 

  1. Type '%temp%' in the Windows run command.
  2. Highlight all files and folders.
  3. Select Delete.
  4. Select 'Do this for all current items'.
  5. If a "Folder in use" message appears, select Skip.
