How to convert Sage 50 data to a newer version

Some updates need you to update your Sage 50 Accounting company file to the latest version. Follow these steps to convert your company file successfully.

Before you begin the conversion

  1. Create a backup.
  2. Select File, Properties, and note the Location and Company File name.
    • Version 2008 or higher - file type - .sai
  3. Turn off User Account Control (UAC) by selecting Control Panel, User Accounts.
  4. Turn off any Antivirus, Firewall, and Anti-Spyware.
  5. Save the data on the local computer and run the Advanced Database Check.
  6. Convert the data, then save the data back to the original location.

To start the conversion

  1. Open the newest version of Sage 50.
  2. If you get the Welcome window with several options, select the one that best fits your needs.
    • Open the last company you worked on or
    • Select an existing company to go to the location of the file
  3. OK.
  4. Click Next several times to go through the Upgrade wizard, and then click Finish.
  5. If prompted to sign in with the Sage account, sign in with the sysadmin credentials.
