How to set up multi-user mode

The multi-user mode allows multiple users to access the Sage 50 Accounting software simultaneously.

Prerequisites

• A file-server network or peer-to-peer network.
• Purchase a multi-user edition of Sage 50 Accounting.
   NOTE: Multi-user mode is only available in Premium and higher editions. The feature isn't available in Pro.

• Ensure all computers meet the minimum requirements.
• If using multi-user mode with Remote Data Access (RDA), set up your users with Remote Data Access (RDA).

Install Sage 50 Accounting

1. Install Sage 50 Accounting on all computers that will be using it.
2. Activate Sage 50 with the new serial number if you just purchased a multi-user version.
3. Create a new folder on the C drive of the computer where you’ll store the data.
4. Share the folder and give permission to all users who need to access the folder.
5. Save your company data file in the new folder.
   • Open Sage 50 Accounting
   • Go to File, Save as
   • Locate the new folder created in Step 3
   • Change the file name, and Save

Set up Users and add sysadmin password

• Create your users and set permissions and roles for each user
• Save your changes

Switch to Multi-user Mode

• Go to File, Switch to Multi-user Mode

Open the file from other computers

1. Log in to Sage 50 Accounting on the workstation and choose Select an existing company.
2. Browse to the computer that stores the data and select the file you saved in the new folder.
3. Select Open.
4. Log in as the new user.
5. Open the file in multi-user mode.
