The information you need to activate the program

• Company Name
• Account ID: 10-digit number starting with 400
• Serial Number: This is 14 alphanumeric characters. The serial number changes with each annual release
• Key Code (Activation Key): Unique 23 alphanumeric characters - only needed for offline (no internet) activations
• Payroll ID: Only needed if entitled as part of a Sage Business Care Plan that provides payroll updates. Unique 10 alphanumeric characters

How to get your serial numbers and activation codes

1. Log in to the Customer Portal. If you're new to Sage, sign up for Customer Portal.
2. Select Product information, then My active Services and Plans.
3. Under Activation Codes, select Active and use the Serial and Activation code for the Application (version) that you're installing.
    NOTE: Click once on the Sage 50 icon on your desktop to check the version you're using. Download the latest version if you don't have it. 
   
   • For version 2026, the Application is Sage 50 Canadian Edition-Service
   • For version 2025, the Application is Sage 50 CA 2025 Care

For purchases made online or over the phone, check your email for the codes.
 NOTE: Keep the activation codes after installing version 2026. Activation codes won't change anymore and you'll use the same codes for versions 2027 and higher.  

Activating the software on a new installation

1. The Activation window opens automatically once you complete the installation.
2. Click Activate now.
3. Enter the Company Name, Serial Number, and Account ID.
4. Leave the Retrieve my Key Code from Sage 50 online radio button selected.
   • If you don’t have an internet connection, choose Use this Key Code
   • Enter your Key Code and click OK

Activating an already installed the product

1. Open any company file or open the sample company.
2. Go to Help, then Upgrade your Sage 50 Product.
3. Enter your Company name, Account ID, and Serial Number.
4. Click OK to retrieve your key code from Sage 50 online.
   • If you don't have an internet connection, enter the Key code manually
   • Click OK to complete the activation
