Stripe is a secure online payment service that connects to your Accounting Start account to take card payments on customer invoices. It simplifies the payment process for your customers and speeds up your cash flow. Getting started Create a new Stripe account from Accounting. Stripe charges a transparent per-transaction fee, which you can review before creating your account. You can start taking card payments immediately without waiting for approval. NOTE: If you already have a Stripe account, you must create a new one for use only with Accounting. Stripe allows multiple accounts under one login. How can customers make card payments? Customers can make card payments directly from emailed invoices. After receiving your email, a customer clicks View this invoice to open the invoice in a web page. On the web page, they click Pay Now to make a secure card payment via Stripe. Customers can also save the invoice in PDF format or print it from the web page. You’ll receive a notification that someone has made the payment. You can also take your customer's card information and apply a payment directly to their invoice. New Feature in May 2025: Enable the Allow your customer to make an online payment toggle when processing an invoice. Customers can now scan a QR code in their emailed invoice and pay it.

- Locate and open the invoice to which you want to apply the payment.
- Click Take Card Payment.
- Verify that the cardholder's name and address are correct.
- Enter the card number, expiration date, and CVC code in the Card Details field.
- To pay the total amount due, click Charge. The invoice status updates to Paid.

After you apply the card payment using Stripe, your Stripe account creates a customer receipt and deducts a fee from each payment. Although the invoice shows as Paid (in Full), the net amount deposited to your bank account will be less than the Stripe fee. |
