Error: " Unable to process your file because it doesn't meet our format..."

Error: "We are unable to process your file because it doesn't meet our format specifications for XML files. Contact your software developer to fix this problem". The error occurs when uploading T4s from Sage 50 Accounting to the Canada Revenue Agency website.

Description

When opening the XML file with Edge, you'll get the error: "Opening and ending tag mismatch: T4_AMT line 2 and T4Slip".

Cause

  • You're not using the latest version of Sage 50.
  • One or more employees have a negative amount.

Resolution

  1. Install the latest version of Sage 50 if you haven't already.
  2. Verify that there are no employees with a negative amount.
