How to connect to MySQL database in Microsoft Access

Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

The article provides a step-by-step guide on how to grant Read/write access to third-party products in Sage 50 by using a 32-bit version of Microsoft Access to create a database, establish an ODBC connection, and import or link tables using the sysadmin user credentials.

Resolution

CAUTION: Sage support can't assist with third-party products, hardware, report customizations, or state and federal tax questions. Refer to our Scope of Support for more info. Contact your Sage business partner, network administrator, or accountant for assistance.

  1. In Sage 50, grant Read/write access to third-party products to the sysadmin user
  2. Open Microsoft Access
  3. Select Blank database
  4. Select the External Data tab
  5. Select New Data Source
  6. Select From Database > From SQL Server
  7. Select either Import the source data into a new table in the current database or Link to the data source by creating a linked table
  8. Select the Machine Data Source tab
  9. Select your database
  10. Enter the Sage 50 User (sysadmin) and Password
  11. Select the tables you wish to import

Note:

The ODBC connection will only work if you have a 32-bit version of MS Access.
