Error: "There are unlinked historical accounts"

Summary

I deleted an account that was not touched for two years. The account had a balance of zero. When I open a previous fiscal year report I get this error message: "There are unlinked historical accounts. The report you are trying to view may not be balanced because the historical account has been deleted." There are unlinked historical accounts with balances for the period you choose to report. account # xxxx,=. Historical accounts with balance could be missing in the report. Do you want to continue? when printing comparative income statement for closed period

Description

Cause

  • An account with a balance in a previous fiscal year was deleted.
  • It will be missing in the previous fiscal year financial reports.
  • The program warns you that the report will not balance, because you are missing this account.

Resolution

Option I: Restore a back up

Option II: Unlinked historical accounts with balances message when printing comparative income statement

  1. Open the General Ledger report by selecting the closed Fiscal Year
  2. Select the account # xxxx showing on the Sage 50 confirmation message window.
  3. If the balance is zero on the report and no transaction shows, Select Yes on the question "Do you want to continue?"
  4. Verify if you can print comparative income statement report
  5. Alternatively, you can recreate the same accounts deleted on the chart of accounts
    • Once the account is recreated , open the account in the chart of accounts.
    • Go to the historical accounts tab select the historical year under Fiscal Year
    • Select the recreated account under Account
    • Click save and close
