Error: "The program cannot process this transaction ..." when posting any transaction

Summary

How to fix the errors: "The program cannot process this transaction, there may be a problem with your data. Wait a few moments and try to process the transaction again." or "An unknown error has occurred. To protect your data, Sage 50 will close" in Sage 50 Accounting.

Cause

  • Not enough hard drive space for the company file while the sample company file resides on another drive with enough space
  • The data is corrupt

Resolution

Option 1: Low Storage Space

  1. Verify which drive the company data file resides.
  2. Verify how much hard drive space there is for the drive.
  3. Make room for the drive.
    • If the drive is on the network, then please get your network administrator involved to give you more space or make more space

Option 2: Corrupt Data

  1. Restore a recent backup.
  2. Call our technical support team at 1-888-522-2722 for data repair options.
