Cause
- Company file is in the Pro version
Resolution
Method 1: Sage 50 Pro version
- Sage 50 Pro is a single-user version.
- See related resources to upgrade to Sage 50 Premium or Sage 50 Quantum Accounting.
Method 2: Sage 50 Accountants Edition
- Open the company file.
- Verify the product by selecting File, Properties, Product or on the bottom right of the screen.
- If it says Sage 50 Pro Accounting, then the software will not allow you to use multi-user mode since Pro accounting is a 1 user license even if opened in the Accountants Edition.
- If appropriate, the file can be upgraded to Sage 50 Premium or Sage 50 Quantum by the steps below. How to upgrade company with Sage 50 Accountant Edition (to have access to multi-user mode).
Warning: Once upgraded the data can not be returned to the customer for use in a lower version.
- Access the menu Accountant Edition on the main screen.
- Select Upgrade Company and follow the steps.

Method 3:
- Open company file with sysadmin, single user.
- Go to Setup, then Setup Users & Roles.
- Verify at least two users have been created in the Users tab and they have a role assigned to them. Refer to How do I add users (non remote) to access my data file?
- Enter the company file with the newly created user (other user) and select multi-user mode.
Method 4: Corrupted user profile
