There are three options to create an account in your Sage 50 Accounting. Use the Chart of Accounts, the Setup Guide, or the Wizard.
Account Types:
- Every set of accounts must start with an H (group heading) and end with a T (group total)
- For every sequence of A (subgroup account), an S (subgroup total) follows
- An example of logical sequences:
- H,G,T
- H, A, S, G, T
- H, G, A, S, T
- H, A, S, T

Use the Chart of Accounts
- Select the Company module.
- Select on the Chart of Accounts icon.
- Select File, then Create.
- Enter the Account number and Name.
- On the Account tab, select the proper Type according to the Additional information section.
- Select the Class Options tab.
- Select the appropriate option on the drop-down box beside the Account Class.
- No Class Options are necessary for Group Heading and Group Total
- Select Save and Close.
Use the Setup Guide
- Select Setup, Setup Guide, Accounts.
- Select Add Account.
- Enter the appropriate information.
- Save and Close.
Use the Wizards
- Select Setup, Wizards, Modify Accounts.
- Under Organize Your Account Records windows, select Add.
- Click Next.
- Follow the wizard to create your account.
Error: "Your accounts are not in logical order. The reason is: ... "
