Can I post transactions two years prior?

Summary

Sage 50 Accounting allows you to post in the current or previous fiscal year. To enter missing transactions in prior years, restore a prior year backup with a different name, or ask your accountant to post an entry.

Resolution

Restore prior year backup and enter missing transactions

  1. Back up your current data.
  2. Print the All Transactions Report for the current year by going to Reports, Transaction Details / Journal Entries, All.
  3. Restore the most current backup from the prior year. CAUTION: Change the file name of the SAI so that it doesn’t overwrite your current opened data file.

  4. Re-enter the missing transactions from Step 2 above.

No backup to restore

  • Ask your accountant if posting adjusting entries to the closest date possible is applicable to your situation
