How do I confirm that I’m contacting an official Sage representative?

Summary

How to ensure you're reaching a legitimate Sage representative, team, or website for support.

Description

Sage provides online product support and offers phone and chat assistance for most products. How can you confirm you’ve reached a legitimate Sage service team member?

Effective ways to identify imposters

Branding and logos

Search engines like Google and Bing are valuable resources, but identifying official Sage results can be challenging. Scams use fake or seemingly official contact details, websites, and social media accounts. Signs of fraud include:

  • Altered logos
  • Incorrect website branding

Verify the domain names for websites and email addresses

You can spot a fake website or email by matching the company's official website domain name. Fraudsters use domain names similar to the official URL within the fake domain name. All Sage official websites and emails include sage.com as part of the domain name.

We have several vanity or friendly URLs with domain names slightly different than sage.com. These are shorter, Sage-branded links that are easier to share and remember.

You can bookmark these websites. If you're still unsure, visit www.sage.com and select Support or other options from the menu to access the appropriate resources.

Other ways to confirm you're speaking with Sage

We authenticate you based on your Sage account ID and company details when you contact us.

  • You get free support if you purchased a Sage product with a subscription within the last 12 months
  • Log in to the Customer Portal and select Activation codes to verify the remaining cases
  • The Gold Support plan has unlimited support cases
  • If support cases are remaining on your account, you get free support

We’ll refer you to Sage Expert Services (SES) or a consultant for issues beyond the scope of support to help.

Trust your instincts

If it doesn’t feel right, it likely isn’t. We won't ask for sensitive information like passwords, account numbers, or Social Security numbers via email or phone.

  • Don't send money, share financial details, or provide personal information
  • Don't engage with the caller or email sender
  • Don't click links or download attachments
  • Contact Sage to verify if the email or phone call was legitimate

Report it

Report the fraudsters to protect yourself and assist crime tracking and prevention. Your report helps local law enforcement, the private and public sectors, and academia combat crime more effectively.

We're committed to providing you with an exceptional experience when using our software. Confirming that you’re interacting with a legitimate Sage representative is vital to that commitment.
