Summary
I used to work in Sage 50 by opening a company file saved on a server in our local network (via a VPN connection or not) and now I want to access my company file by sharing it on the cloud via Remote Data Access (formerly Sage Drive)
Description
I want to share my data remotely instead of locally and be able to access my data from anywhere via the internet.
Cause
Resolution
- Retrieve the company data files (SAI file + SAJ folder) from the server and move them locally onto the C drive of your workstation.
- Open this local company file in Sage 50 and share it with Remote Data Access. Follow How to share a company data file using Remote Data access (RDA).
Note:
- When using RDA, a copy of the company file is uploaded to Sage servers and every Sage 50 user needs a local copy of the company file on their computer as well
- The company data will be synchronized on all computers in real-time
- You won’t need to use your server anymore since every Sage 50 will open a local copy of the company data file on their workstation
- Make sure you open the right file when you start Sage 50: look for a green logo that says “Shared” in the top left corner when the company file is open
- Sage Remote Data Access servers are located in Canada
