Not responding message when performing fiscal year-end close

Resolution
When you perform the fiscal year-end close, the program seems to hang and the title bar shows "Not Responding". However, the program is still running in the background.  
 CAUTION:  Don't stop the process. Wait until it either completes or gives an error. If you stop the process, restore the backup because the data is already corrupt.
 CAUTION: If you can't restore the backup, don't use the current file because it's already corrupt. Chat with us for more assistance. 

To check whether the year-end process is still running in the background

  • Open the data folder in Windows Explorer
  • Select Details View, sort by Modified Date, and check the date and size of the files
  • If they keep changing, the process is still running

To check whether there was an interruption during the year-end process

  • Click File, then Print Reports
  • Select General Ledger, then Trial Balance
  • Click the drop-down for fiscal years, check for a year with letter A, B, C.  EXAMPLE: 2025A or 2025B
  • If such files exist, someone prematurely stopped the year-end process
  • Restore the year-end backup, and perform year-end again. If restoring isn't an option, contact us for further assistance
