| Not responding message when performing fiscal year-end close |
Resolution | When you perform the fiscal year-end close, the program seems to hang and the title bar shows "Not Responding". However, the program is still running in the background. CAUTION: Don't stop the process. Wait until it either completes or gives an error. If you stop the process, restore the backup because the data is already corrupt. To check whether the year-end process is still running in the background - Open the data folder in Windows Explorer
- Select Details View, sort by Modified Date, and check the date and size of the files
- If they keep changing, the process is still running
To check whether there was an interruption during the year-end process - Click File, then Print Reports
- Select General Ledger, then Trial Balance
- Click the drop-down for fiscal years, check for a year with letter A, B, C.
EXAMPLE: 2023A or 2023B - If such files exist, someone prematurely stopped the year-end process
- Restore the year-end backup, and perform year-end again. If restoring isn't an option, contact us for further assistance
