• Starting a new calendar year 
• Changing the session date to January 1 of the next year or further

Sage 50 will display the YTD totals of the current calendar year the program is in.

1. Go to Reports, Payroll, Employee, then select summary.
   • If the future year is an available option, the calendar year has already been advanced
2. Restore from a backup created before advancing the year.
3. Be careful not to overwrite the current file by giving the restored file a new name.
4. Manually enter whatever transactions that are needed to bring your company file up to date.
