Option 1: Use the Linked Accounts Wizard.

  • Use the Linked Accounts Setup Wizard under Setup, Wizards, Linked Account
  • Click Next
  • Go through all the modules to add, remove, or change a linked account 

Option 2: Navigate the Linked Accounts manually.

  • Retained Earnings
    Go to Setup, Settings, General (Accounts), Linked Accounts change Retained Earnings
  • Accounts Payable, Freight, Early Payment Discount and Prepayment
    Go to Setup, Settings, Payables, Linked Accounts, change the accounts
  • Accounts Receivable, Revenue, Freight, Early Payment Discount and Deposit
    Go to Setup, Settings, Receivables, Linked Accounts, change the accounts
  • Employee Payroll
    Go to Setup, Settings, Payroll, Linked Accounts
    • Incomes
    • Deductions
    • Taxes
    • User-Defined Expenses
  • If using Sage 50 Pro, you can choose to designate a custom account for Record wage expenses in:
  • Go to the employee record and select the optional radio button
  • If using Premium or Quantum, go to Setup, Settings, Payroll, Linked Accounts, Expense Groups
  • Click the dotted ellipses box and check the Linked Accounts column
  • Item Assembly Cost & Adjustment Write-off (inventory)
    Go to Setup, Settings, Inventory & Services, Linked Accounts, change the accounts
  • Credit Cards
    Go to Setup, Settings, Company, Credit Cards, both Used and Accepted, change the Acct.
  • Sales Taxes
    Go to Setup, Settings, Company, Sales Taxes, Taxes change Acct. to track
  • Credit Cards
    Go to Setup, Settings, Company, Credit Cards, both Used and Accepted, change the Acct.
  • Delivery Orders
    Go to Setup, Settings, Company, Customers & Sales, Linked Accounts, Delivery Orders
  • Goods Received Notes
    Go to Setup, Settings, Company, Vendors, Linked Accounts, Goods Received Notes

Option 3: Linked accounts in records

  • Linked Account for Customers and Vendors:
    • Go to each Customer and Vendor record
    • Look under the Options tab
    • Customers will have a revenue-linked account and vendors will have an expense-linked account

Option 4: Optional activities

  • Matching Transactions for Bank Feeds
    • Go to Setup, Settings, General (Accounts), Linked Accounts
    • Link an account for Bank Charges and Interest Income as needed
  • Multi Currency
    • If you have a bank account in a different country other than Canada or process invoices in a different currency
      Set up a rounding difference account 
       NOTE: The exchange rate can change between the invoice date and the receipt/payment date

    • Select a mandatory expense linked account for Track Exchange and Rounding Differences in:


 NOTE: 

  • An account can only be linked once
  • For instance, if you have setup 2 deductions in the system, each deduction will have to be linked to 2 different linked accounts
  • Open a sample company to view examples of the types of accounts you can link
