The company file must be in Single User mode before creating a backup. You back up to a USB flash drive - On the Sage 50 backup window, change the location of the backup folder from the USB flash drive to C:\ drive.
- Click the OK button.
File size is too large due to backup in working folder (SAJ) - Close Sage 50.
- Open Windows Explorer by holding the Windows key and then pressing the letter E key on your keyboard.
- Browse to the location of your data file.
- Locate the company file's SAJ folder and double-click it to open its content.
- If there are cab files in the SAJ folder, move them to another location outside of the SAJ folder.
- Also check inside the simply and mysql folders located inside the SAJ folder if there are any backups.
- Don’t save a backup file inside the SAJ folder.
- If you restore any of the backup files that you moved out of the SAJ folder, the same problem will occur again.
- It’s recommended you make new backups and delete the previous backup files.
- Try to back up the company file again.
The backup file is in the Program files folder that is restricted - On the Sage 50 backup window, change the location of the backup folder from C:\Program files\xxx to C:\ Sage.
- Click the OK button.
The backup file location is pointing to a non-existent directory - On the Sage 50 backup window, change the location of the backup folder to the new location on the network drive.
- Click the OK button.
Compatibility issues with windows - Right-click on your Sage 50 Accounting icon and choose Properties.
- Click the Compatibility tab.
- Check under the 'Compatibility mode' section to ensure that Run this program in compatibility mode for: is unchecked.
- Click OK.
You back up directly to a Network-attached storage (NAS) drive The backup folder is on the NAS drive and you have an error: "Backup failed". Sage 50 is looking for a server with an operating system to verify the backup, but it doesn't exist. - On the Sage 50 backup window, change the location of the backup folder from the NAS to another folder on the desktop or C:\ drive.
- Click the OK button.
The company file location or folder is corrupted - Copy the company file to a different folder (for example, C:\sage 50 data)
- Open the file and create a backup.
- Verify if you can back up the file.
Ensure that the Connection Manager is running on the workstation - Open the Connection Manager on the system tray.
- Select Restart Service, then OK.
- Verify if you can back up the file.
