You can give users read or write access to company data using a third-party software rather than using Sage 50 Accounting directly.
Users can access company data via Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) or third‑party applications that exchange data using our Software Development Kit (SDK). To allow this, you need to add third-party users to your Sage 50 company and select their level of access.
Setting up third-party user rights in Sage 50
- Go to Setup, then Set Up Users.
- When prompted, enter the sysadmin password.
- If you haven't added the user yet, click Add User. Otherwise, select the user and click Modify User.
- In the Add User or Modify User window, enter a user name and password. The user will use these credentials to access company data from the third-party software.
- Under Rights With Third-Party Products, select the level of access for the user:
- No data access: The user can only read and edit company data using Sage 50.
- Read data: Users can read all company data from third‑party products, except reports without viewing rights, even with limited Sage 50 access.
-
Read and write data: The user can read and edit data using a third-party product.
NOTE:
Read/Write access isn't available for shared companies.
- If the user will only access company data using third-party software, uncheck the Sage 50 Access box.
