Summary

Steps to resolve the error: "You cannot open this company. It was created in a newer version or is incompatible with your Sage 50 solution" when opening a Sage 50 Accounting Remote Data Access company.

Cause

  • Another user upgraded their program and then accessed the shared data
  • You’re still using the older program

Resolution

  1. Ensure all computers have the latest version of Sage 50.
  2. Check your desktop for a shortcut for the newest version of Sage 50.
  3. If Sage 50 is on an earlier release and won’t update automatically, open the sample company.
    • Go to Help, Check for Product Updates
    • After downloading the update, close Sage 50, and the update will run automatically
  4. If the update doesn’t run automatically, download and install it manually.
