Q: What is the Sage 50 Educational Version?

A: The Sage 50 Educational Version (aka the student version) is a Sage 50 Premium desktop version valid for 14 months upon registration and DOES NOT include the cloud-connected features.

It’s provided to schools and educational institutions that teach Sage 50 either as a standalone course or as part of their curriculum, for example, Accounting or Business Studies, and their students, who would use it to train.

Q: How would educators and students obtain the Sage 50 Educational version?

A: They would need to sign up with our Sage Educational Partner program. They can do so on the following websites:

The above website includes the registration forms and the downloads for the educational version.

Q: What is the difference between the registration codes the educators received vs the students?

A: The educator's registration codes include an Account ID, which allows them to install the educational version on as many of their labs as required.

The student's registration codes don’t include an Account ID, and are only intended for single use.

Q: Is the Sage 50 Educational Version free of charge?

A: Yes, the software is free of charge.

Q: Where do I get the data files that come with the book?

A: The publisher of each textbook has a different set of files, so you’ll need to contact the publisher of the book you’re using.

Q: I’m trying to open a data file from my school/book, but it says that the file is expired.

A: This means that the data was created in a student version more than 14 months ago. You will need to go back to who created the file (the publisher or teacher) and have them convert the file into the educational version you have.

Q: I filled out the form for my activation codes but didn’t receive it.

A: Sometimes, the email response gets blocked by your firewall/spamware, or the email gets sent to your junk/spam folder. If you still haven’t received it, email [email protected]. In the email, mention what Sage 50 version/year you require.

Q: Sage 50 isn’t accepting the registration codes I received.

A: This error typically happens when the Sage version/year you have installed doesn't match the Sage version/year key codes you’ve requested. Double-check check you’ve installed the correct version and then re-register for the right set of registration codes.

Q: Errors:

• I can’t register for the Sage 50 educational version, as it asks for an account ID, and I wasn’t given my student registration.
• My Sage 50 educational version has expired
• I've installed the trial version, and now I can’t register for the educational version

A: Student registration doesn’t include an Account ID. The following steps will correct the error:

Step 1: Uninstall the student version.
Step 2: Run the following utility: Sage 50 Canadian Edition Student Version Cleanup Tool.
Step 3: Reinstall your student version and register.

Q: Can I install the Sage 50 educational version on a Mac?

A: Sage doesn’t directly install on a Mac OS, and we currently don’t provide a Sage 50 version for the Mac platform. However, we do have some customers that have had success using Parallels. Therefore, you’re welcome to try this option. However, we won’t help you install Sage on emulator software such as Parallels Desktop or Wine.
