Error: "Serial number you entered is not valid" during install and especially during upgrades
- The incorrect serial number for the product being installed is used
- Serial numbers change every year and the serial number used to activate is old
- Incorrect Activation Key
- Sage 50 US edition is being used instead of Sage 50 Canadian Edition
Notes:
- Sage 50 Canadian Edition serial numbers are always numbers. The "0" character will always be the number "zero".
- The activation keycode is always letters. The "O" will always be the letter "O"(capital).
- Sage 50 US Edition is not the same as Sage 50 Canadian Edition. Ensure you have the correct installer for Sage 50 Canadian Edition from the Sage 50: Download Portal.
Option 1: Serial Number
- Check that the serial number is correct and of the same year and version you are installing.
- Sage uses a different serial number for each new version of the software
- Check the installation folder you are using to install the program and verify that the version is correct. Typically this folder is in C:\\Program Files (x86). The year will appear in the install folder.
- If you have issues re-downloading the installation files, see Sage 50: Download Portal.
Option 2: Activation Key Code
- If the activation key from the previous version is used in the newer version of Sage 50, click the option to manually enter the activation key.
Option 3: Sage 50 already installed
- If you have already successfully installed the software and are receiving this error message when attempting to activate it, an error message may instruct you to uninstall the software and reinstall it using the correct activation codes. Follow the instructions in the article: Registration, Downloading, Installation, and Activation.
