EFT bank transfer files

Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

I received an error message from my bank which refers to a line number in my upload or transfer file from Sage 50 Accounting.

Resolution

Data center number not entered

Someone may not have entered the data center number. Verify the data center number contains information.

An error due to a line in the transfer of upload file

  • The bank error message relates to a line in the upload file. Ensure the line matches others in the file
  • Ensure that the date and account number are correct
  • Check that all the information is on one line and hasn't wrapped to the second line. You can edit the line in Notepad and resend to your bank
  • If the error refers to the first line or the last line, contact Sage 50 Accounting Technical Support at 1-888-522-2722

Though data fields are continuous with no spaces, each line contains the employee or company name, cheque date, cheque amount and bank account number. Verify:

  • All the files have a header record in the first line and a trailer record in the last line
  • All the files are ASCII or ANSI-based files
  • The files are the right size, ie.80byte files etc.

Bank Outout file

Edit the DAT file in Notepad (don’t use a word processor). If a particular format doesn’t work, try the CPA standard.

  1. Choose your bank output file from the list below.
  2. The files originally had a DAT extension.
  3. We renamed the files with a TXT extension to open and easily view them in Notepad.
