If necessary, seek the assistance of a qualified Sage business partner, network administrator, or Sage customer support analyst.Step 1: Check for duplicate account names English/French
Note: If your company is conducting business in French, you may have duplicate French chart of account names as well. Please switch language to French and follow the same steps:
- In the Home window, from the Report menu, choose Lists, Accounts.
- In "Report Options" put a check mark in box labeled "Include inactive accounts"
- Click OK.
- You will have two options:
- Option 1: Sort by name and scroll through the list until you find the duplicate name or names
- Option 2: Export to Excel and run a sort on duplicate names. See Filter for or remove duplicate values for details
- Print or leave report open when duplicate accounts have been found and proceed to step 2
Note: Accounts are considered to have the same name if the letters are the same, even if some letters are capitalized and some are not.
Step 2: Rename either of the two accounts that were duplicates:
- In the Home window, click the Company tab.
- Click the Chart of Accounts icon.
- Double-click on the account you want to modify.
- If the account name that is a duplicate is in French please click on the EnFr icon beside the account name and change the name beside “French:” otherwise you just need to change the English name within the name field on the account.
- After all accounts have an unique name, click Save and Close.
- Go to Setup, Settings, General(Accounts), and verify options are no longer greyed out.
