How do I remove old invoices?

Steps to remove an old invoice.

Resolution

  1. Open a new invoice window (Purchase or Sales invoice).
  2. Keep the same Vendor or Customer name and the same amount as the old invoice.
  3. But type in a negative invoice amount.
  4. Change the invoice number to ensure you do not use up a valid invoice number (example place REV in front of the invoice number).
  5. As Payment Method select Pay Later.
  6. Select Post.
  7. Open the Payments or Receipts journal.
  8. In Pay To the Order of select the Vendor or Customer name used in the invoice.
    • Note: You will see the overdue (old) invoice and the negative invoice amount
  9. Left-click in Payment Amount or Amount Received column to apply the old positive invoice and new negative invoice amounts
    • Note: The Total should be 0
  10. Change the cheque number to ensure you do not use up a valid cheque number (example place REV in front of the cheque number).
  11. Select Report, then Display Payments Transaction Detail or Display Receipts Transaction Detail to make sure you have "There is no data to report ". Then close the report.
  12. Select Post.
