Resolution

Step 1: Preparation

Ensure both computers are in the same workgroup or domain.
- When a domain is present consult your IT Administrator.
- If you are unsure, then please consult with your network/IT technician.

Verify you can ping the other computer’s IP address. -
Share the Sage 50 data file location and set the appropriate permissions. For more information on how to setup sharing on your computer fro your version of Windows, please see: https://help-sage50.na.sage.com/en-ca/2016/AcctEd/Content/User_Reference-ur/ur-pr-xx-WindowsConfig.htm- Set the rights on the folder and verify you can see the shared folder on the other computer.
- Right-click on the folder that your Company .SAI and .SAJ company files are and choose Properties
- On the Sharing tab, click on Advanced Sharing
- Click the Share this Folder and give Everyone Full Control
- Click Apply, then OK
- Click on the Security tab and Add the user Everyone or Windows User, Full Control
- Then Click Apply, Then Click OK and OK again
- Add at least one user other than sysadmin by following How do I add users (non remote) to access my data file?
- Set the rights on the folder and verify you can see the shared folder on the other computer.
Step 2: Mapping the Network Drive (Windows 10)

Open File Explorer
and select "This PC."

Then, on the Computer tab, select Map network drive in File Explorer

In the Drive list, select a drive letter. (Any available letter will do)

In the Folder box, type the path of the folder or computer, or select Browse to find the folder or computer. To connect every time you log on to your PC, select the Reconnect at sign-in check box

Select Finish
Note: If you can't connect to a network drive or folder, the computer you're trying to connect to might be turned off, or you might not have the correct permissions. Try contacting your network administrator
Step 3: Accessing the data
- Open Sage 50 and select an existing company
- Click OK

Navigate to the shared location and select the company file - Click on the .sai file of the desired company
- Click Open
- Click File, Properties and confirm the correct file location and name.
Important Notes:
Contact your network administrator if you face issues.
Backup your data before making changes to your network settings.
