The Sage 50 Accounting Obsolescence Policy ensures support is available only for the current release. Users must upgrade outdated versions to access full customer support and compatibility with contemporary software and operating systems.

Description

The Sage 50 Accounting Obsolescence Policy is to support the current release. “Support” means that we’ll have live Customer Support (phone and chat) and access to other add-on products or services available for an additional fee. We don't support older versions of our products because specific software performance enhancements often aren't compatible with older technology.

“Sage 50 Accounting” and “Sage 50” will mean to include all editions of Sage 50 Accounting.

Sage’s products are designed to work with certain third-party software and operating systems.  Support provided by Sage needs to be consistent with support provided by third parties, such as Microsoft. 

We urge customers on unsupported software to upgrade to the latest Sage 50 Accounting for full support and the newest technology.

  • Only customers with a current support plan are eligible to receive Customer Support
  • Sage 50 Accounting 2025 won’t receive a payroll tax update in December 2025 and will have outdated tax tables on January 1, 2026
  • Sage 50 Accounting 2025 product support ends March 31, 2026
  • Microsoft will no longer support Windows 10 effective October 14, 2025, unless you purchase Microsoft's extended security update (ESU) program
  • If you don’t purchase Microsoft's ESU, Sage will offer limited support of Sage 50 installed on Windows 10 computers on or after October 14, 2025. You may be required to update your operating system to a supported version of Microsoft Windows
  • To access add-on products and connected services, you must use the latest version of Sage 50 Accounting.  This includes Payroll features and functionality, Sage HR, Paya, Inc., Sage Connect, EFT Direct, and Direct Payments
  • To have access to any payroll features and functionality and to receive payroll updates, you must be using one of the following
    • the most recently released version or update (whichever is most recent) of Sage 50 Accounting plus a current plan that includes payroll services
    •  a current retail version of Sage 50 Pro Accounting with Payroll
  • To receive a current product update, you must have a current support plan
