Error: "The program detected an error in your data when looking for your information related to user preferences. You may want to restore your latest backup." when converting file

Cause

  • Permission for the folder
  • Damaged data file
  • Anti-virus and firewall

Resolution

  1. Temporarily disable anti-virus and firewall
  2. Check if the folder containing the Sage 50 data has sufficient rights
  3. Run Advanced Database Check (ADC):
    • Open the file in the current Sage 50 version
    • Create a backup
    • On the Sage 50 Main Window, go to Maintenance, Advanced Database Check
    • On the Sage 50 - Warning window, select Yes
    • If the program has detected errors, click Yes to fix them
    • Wait for the ADC to finish
  4. Check the error logs located in:
    • (Win 7, 8, Vista): C\Users\\My Documents\Simply\DbVerifier\Logs\
    • (Win XP): C:\Documents and settings\\My Documents\Simply\DbVerifier\Logs\
    • The error log is a simple text file that shows what the Advanced Database Check has encountered during its verification
    • Open the most recent file in the folder (highest 4-digit number)
  5. Try to convert the file again
  6. If conversion fails, try to restore the latest backup and convert or call Sage 50 Technical Support Line: 1-888-522-2722
