Description
Cause
- The account that you are trying to modify is being used as a linked account.
Resolution

- Check your company linked account settings by clicking on Setup, Wizards, Linked Accounts and go through the wizard to verify if the account you're trying to modify is linked there.
- Check your inventory linked accounts on all your inventory items by opening the inventory record and going to the Linked tab.
- Go to Reports, Lists, Inventory & Services...
- put a check mark for Include inactive items and click OK
- If report does not show the Asset column, right click on one of the column headings and place a check mark on Asset
- All inventory using this account will have the account under the Asset column
- Check your revenue and expense accounts by opening the customer and vendor records and going to the Options tab.
- Unlink the account by highlighting it and pressing delete or backspace on your keyboard.
- If you are using foreign currency, do not unlink the accounts payable and accounts receivable linked accounts.
- Stop here and do not change the account class.
- If you are using foreign currency, do not unlink the accounts payable and accounts receivable linked accounts.
- Change the account class by going to the Chart of Accounts and going to the Class Options tab.
- If desired, Relink the account.
