Sage 50 Accounting guide on how to build inventory items using a bill of materials, including setup requirements and steps to post a build transaction.
Resolution
1. Define the inventory items that go into the assembled item
- Go to Inventory & Services.
- Double-click on the inventory item to open the Inventory & Services Records.
- Create the inventory item first, if it isn’t on your list.
- Select the Build tab.
- Enter the Quantity. You can use up to four decimal points.
- Select the component items that will create the built item and the quantities for each item.
- Enter any additional cost associated with the built item and select the account to record the additional costs to.
- Select Save and Close.
2. Creating an item from Build of Materials
- From the Sage 50 homepage, select Switch to Enhanced View at the top right.
- If you're already in Enhanced View, skip this step.
- Go to Inventory & Services, then click Build from Bill of Materials.
- Select the location of the inventory item.
- Enter the source, date, and comment.
- Select the Item.
- Enter the quantity to build.
- Click Post.
