Error: "Internet connection is required"

How to resolve the error in Sage 50 Accounting saying that an internet connection is required when the computer already has internet.

Temporarily disable the firewall or antivirus

Firewalls and antiviruses can block Sage 50 from connecting to the internet. Temporarily turn off any firewall installed and go to help, update the service plan, and then check the service plan. Re-activate the firewall after pulling the service plan information successfully.

Resolve DNS issues

DNS issues will prevent Sage 50 from pulling in service plan information.

Manually activate

1. Bypass the activation message.
2. Open Sage 50.
3. Go to Help, Activate.
4. Enter the Company Name, Serial Number, Account ID in the product activation window.
5. Choose Use this Key Code and enter the Sage 50 Activation Key Code manually.
6. Select OK.
7. Open a Sage 50 company file.
8. Go to Help, Update Service Plan.
9. Verify the Account ID is correct.
10. Select Enter Payroll ID and enter the Payroll ID.
11. Select OK.

Reinstall Sage 50

 Do a basic reinstall of Sage 50 if the program won't activate manually with the firewall and/or antivirus temporarily disabled.
