How to resolve when Sage 50 Accounting freezes after trying to post a transaction.

Resolution

Verify there is only one antivirus program and there are no pending Windows updates

  1. Open the Control Panel then Programs & Features (or Add/Remove Programs).
  2. Verify if you have more than one antivirus software installed. If you have more than one, uninstall them until you only keep one antivirus.
  3. Restart the computer.
  4. If you have any pending Windows Updates awaiting installation, then install them then reboot.

Reinstall Sage 50 Accounting

  1. Uninstall Sage 50.
  2. Disable your antivirus.
  3. Open an explorer window (Win + E keys).
  4. Go to C:\Sage\
  5. Open the folder containing the latest version of Sage 50.
  6. Go to the \Setup\ folder.
  7. Right-click the setup.exe file.
  8. Click Run as administrator.
  9. Follow the screen and proceed with the installation of Sage 50.
  10. Reboot.

Run Sage 50 as an administrator

  1. Every time you use Sage 50, right-click the Sage 50 Accounting shortcut icon on your desktop then select Run as administrator.
  2. Alternatively, you can right-click it once then
  3. Click Properties.
  4. Click Compatibility.
  5. Add a checkmark to Run this program as an administrator.
