Cause
- Sage 50 was installed with different Windows access rights compared to your current Windows session.
- A firewall is blocking the communication between Sage 50 and our servers to verify activation info.
Resolution
CAUTION: This solution needs advanced Operating System knowledge. Consult your system administrator for help. Sage isn't liable for issues caused by improper changes to the Windows Registry. Always back up your data before applying advanced solutions.Method 1: I am running Windows Vista, 7, or 8
- Close all your Sage 50 windows.
- On your desktop, right-click the Sage 50 Accounting shortcut.
- Select Run as administrator.
- You will need to always run Sage 50 as administrator moving forward.
Method 2: login the same Windows account
- Log off from your current Windows session.
- Login with to Windows using the username and password that the Sage 50 software was installed originally.
- Use Sage 50 in this Windows session.
Method 3: contact your IT administrator to give elevated rights
- Have your IT Administrator give your Windows account elevated access rights similar to the account that Sage 50 was installed originally.
Method 4: contact your administrator to reinstall Sage 50 with equivalent rights as you
- Have your IT Administrator uninstall Sage 50 from the Windows account Sage 50 was installed originally.
- Install Sage 50 from your Windows account with the proper access rights.
Method 5: temporarily disable the firewall protection
- Disable the firewall protection
- Close Sage 50
- Open Sage 50
- (optional) verify the payroll feature no longer requires a Payroll ID
- Enable the firewall protection
