Error: "This release of Sage 50 does not support Remote Data Access. You must upgrade to the latest release to use this feature" when opening a Sage 50 Accounting file.

Cause

  • Opening the data file in an older or incorrect version of Sage 50
  • Using the wrong Sage 50 icon to open the data file

Resolution

Use the correct Sage 50 icon to open the data file

  1. On your desktop, right-click the new Sage 50 program icon and select Properties.
  2. Under the General tab, you'll see the Sage 50 version and release.
  3. Double-click the new Sage 50 program icon on the desktop to open the file.
  4. Delete older versions from your desktop.

Update Sage 50

  1. Install the latest update.
  2. Use the updated program icon to open the database.
  3. Delete older versions from your desktop.
