"Remove Order or Quote" is greyed out

Summary

Remove Sales Order or Sales Quote is grayed out under the Sales tab in the Sales Journal. Remove Purchase Order or Purchase Quote is greyed out under the Purchase tab in the Purchases Journal. I cannot click on the icon that says "Remove Order or Quote". In the journal ribbon, the "Remove Order or Quote" icon does not work.

Description

Cause

  • The order is already completed
  • You did not use the “Find Order” functionality to open the order in the Sales/Purchase journal.

Resolution

Option 1: The order has been completed.

  • You cannot remove a completed order.
  • You can only remove an order that has not been fully filled yet: as long as the order is not filled or is partially filled (still contains back-order quantities), then you can remove it.

Option 2: The order has not been completed yet

  • If you open the order in the Sales/Purchases journal while the type of transaction is set to Invoice, you will not be able to remove the order.
  • In the journal interface, at the top left, set Transaction to Order in the drop-down menu.

Note:

  • Though you get a message saying ”The order has been filled and removed from the system” after completing an order, you can still look up the completed order if you select Completed Orders in the Show section of the order search interface
