Summary
Help to solve issues with slow computer performance when attempting to use Sage 50.
Resolution
Option 1:
- Perform a virus / malware scan with a well known antivirus.
- Ensure your computer meets the recommend system requirements - see Sage 50 CA 2022 System Requirements.
Option 2:
- In Windows, go to the Task Manager, Performance Tab, CPU.
- If the CPU utilization is high, click on the Processes tab and look for high utilization of wmiprvse.exe.
- If there is not enough resources, check for Windows updates or contact your IT administrator
Option 3:
- In Windows, go to the Task Manager, Processes.
- Look for spoolsv.exe.
- If the CPU usage is at 100%:
- Turn off the printer
- Stop service Print Spooler in Control Panel, Admin Tools
- Go to c:\windows\system32\spool\printers. Delete files with extensions .SHD and .SPL (e.g. '00002.SHD' and '00020.SPL')
- Restart Print Spooler
- Restart Printer if any connected
- Check spoolsv.exe in the Task Manager for low CPU usage
- Open Sage 50
