Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

How to resolve the error: "Sage 50 has found at least one invalid employee" when exporting T4s in Sage 50 Accounting.

Description

"Sage 50 has found at least one invalid employee. You can continue exporting but any invalid employee will be excluded. Or, you can stop exporting now, add the correct information, and start the export process again."

Cause

  • One or more employees shows a gross pay of zero
  • One of more employees did not have any income or benefit reported for that year
  • One or more employees is missing information necessary to be included in a T4 e-file

Resolution

The Sage 50 - Export Records Summary window will list the reasons individual employees are invalid.

  • If the only message listed is "There are no amounts to report for...."
    • If none of the listed employees have amounts, then it is safe to click Yes and continue
    • If other messages exist, then click No and fix the issues mentioned in the message

To get a list of only employees missing information to generate a T4, exclude employees that have a zero gross pay.

  1. On the Sage 50 - Confirmation window, click No to stop exporting.
  2. Note any employees that have no amounts to report or click Print to print the list.
  3. Exclude those employees from the list when generating an electronic T4 file.
  4. If the invalid employee message appears, then view the list and fix the remaining issues.
  5. If the message does not appear, then all remaining selected employees will be included in the e-file.
