Summary

How to solve the error: "Something went wrong. We were not able to connect this company to your Sage ID. Try connecting again later" when connecting the file to Remote Data Access in Sage 50 Accounting.

Resolution

Restart Sage 50

  1. Restart Sage 50.
  2. Verify you can connect to Remote Data Access.
  3. If you still have an error, try again in an hour. Download the file using Connect to a shared company.

Check the company settings

  1. Go to Setup, Settings, CompanyInformation.
  2. Ensure the country name spelling is correct (Canada).
  3. Remove characters that aren’t a number or a letter from the file name and the company name.
    • Remove any ' number signs (#), dots (.), backslashes (\), forward slashes (/) and ampersands (&).
  4. Add some characters at the beginning of the company name to change it.
  5. Try to share the file again. If the sharing is successful, change the company name back to what it was.

Move the file to the C Drive

  1. Create a new folder at the root of the C drive.
  2. Move the company file to this location and try to share the file again.

Restore from backup

Restore an older backup and try to share the file again.

Use a different ID or computer to share the file

  • Share the file using a newly created Sage ID. This will include creating a new email address with Gmail, Outlook.com, etc.
  • Share the file on a different computer.

Check Windows settings

  1. Ensure French characters aren’t in the "Computer name". See this article for more information.
  2. Open the Windows Start, then Settings.
    • Go to Time & Language, Date & Time, and click Sync now to synchronize your clock.
    • Log in again.
  3. Go to Control Panel, then Region.
    • Ensure the Format is: English (United States).
    • Ensure the Short Date format is: mm dd yyyy or yyyy mm dd. Don’t set it to dd mm yyy.
    • Reboot the computer after changing the region.

Create a new Windows profile

Create a new Windows profile and share the file from the new profile.

Restart the modem

  1. Restart the modem.
  2. Verify you can connect to Remote Data Access.
