Summary
Why an adjustment is required in the amount in my Account Reconciliation Summary Report if the account was reconciled?
Cause
- There was an unresolved amount that you did not fix and instead let the reconciliation window post an adjusting entry for you
- The bank opening balance could have been changed to be able to post the bank reconciliation
Resolution
IMPORTANT: Sage does not provide data analysis/investigation services for you. Any research will need to be done by your company.
- The 'Adjustment Required' line in the Account Reconciliation report means it is already adjusted (posted).
- No further entry is required.
- This is only for reporting purposes.
- Whether the bank reconciliation should have posted the adjustment is another topic entirely.
- For ease of use, Sage 50 allows automatically posting an adjusting entry only when there is an unresolved amount while no discrepancy amount is in effect
- However, it is the responsibility of the company (user) to that this should not happen since the bank reconciliation was not balanced until the automatic adjusting entry was entered
