Remove a credit note or deposit for a customer

Summary

In Sage 50 Accounting, you can either remove or refund a credit note, or apply it to an invoice.

Resolution

Remove and refund your customer's credit note or deposit

Reversing the transaction
  1. Make a backup of your company data.
  2. Select Receivables, then Receipts.
  3. Select the customer.
  4. Enter the amount in the Amount Received column next to the credit note.
     NOTE: The total at the bottom will be the same amount as the amount received.
  5. In the Receipt No. field, enter a label indicating this is a refund, and include the cheque number. For example, 'REF00321' or 'REM00321'.
  6. In the Paid by, select your payment method.
    • Choose the account in the Deposit To field and if paid by Cash, Cheque
       NOTE:  Use the same account as the original account used
    • Fill in the reference field if paid by Cheque
  7. Verify all fields are correct, including the Date.
  8. Click Post (or Process).
