How to export and import projects data using CSV format with Sage 50 Canadian Edition.
There are three main steps in the process of transferring your projects list to a new Sage 50-Canadian Edition file:
- Export the list of projects to a csv file.
- Modify the csv file.
- Import the csv file into the new Sage 50-Canadian Edition file.
Exporting the Projects List to a CSV file:
- Go to File, then Import/Export.
- Select Export Records.
- When the Export Records Wizard appears, select Export to a Sage 50 import file format.
- Select Next.
- Select Projects.
- Before clicking Next, take note of the export file name and the location, so you will be able to locate the export file after it is created
- You can now select all or some of your projects to export.
- Select Next.
- Select Finish.
Modifying the CSV file (with Microsoft Excel):
- Open MS Excel.
- Go to File then Open.
- Go to the C: drive to select the CSV file that was exported from the old Sage 50 file.
- The first line of the CSV file has to contain a Version Number, Country Code, and the word 'Customers':

- Country Code based on the status of your version of Sage 50 data file:
- Canada Country Code = 1
- USA Country Code = 2

- International Country Code = 7
- For each project you should have:
- the project name in column A
- the project start date in column B
- Please follow the sample format below. Note: The row # 2 is only for titles and it is not part of the import file.

Importing:
- Login to Sage 50 in single-user mode.
- Go to File, Import/Export, Import Records.
- The Import Records Wizard appears.
- Select Sage 50 import format.
- Click Next.
- Click Back Up to create a backup for the company before importing.
- After the backup is successful, click Next.
- Click on the Browse button beside the Projects box.
- Select the CSV file that you want to import into Sage 50.
- Click on Next.
- Sage 50 will show a log of all the projects that were added and the reason why some were not added (if there were any).
- Click on Finish.
