Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

This article explains if you can import Journal entries in Sage Business Cloud Accounting

Description

To import a file of journal entries, it must:

  • Contain only journal entries for existing ledger accounts. If necessary, create accounts in your chart of accounts before importing the file.
  • Be saved in comma separated value (CSV) format.
  • Use the same column headings and formatting as in the journals template file.

Cause

I would like to import journal entries in Accounting, but I do not see an option to do this.

Resolution

Step 1: Download the CSV template file

Go to the Downloads folder on your computer to find the file.

Step 2: Preparing the journal file

Step 3: Import the journals file

  1. Go to Journals, and then select New Journal, Import Journals.
  2. Select Choose File. Browse to your CSV file and then click Open.
  3. Click Upload. If any file issues are found during the process, fix them and then try again.
  4. Click OK.

NOTE: If you're importing a large file, wait for the import to finish before entering new transactions.
