I am migrating from Sage 50 to Sage Accounting. At the end of the Migration Tool, I receive an Errors and Warnings Report with various messages. How should I interpret this information? What are my next steps?
Resolution
The Errors and Warnings Report is created with each use of the Migration Tool and saved in the same location as your JSON file.
Warnings Warnings provide information on instances where the Migration Tool had to make changes to the data to produce a workable JSON file. You will still receive a JSON file that you can upload to Accounting and use to migrate if you only receive warnings. These changes are only reflected in the JSON file and do not alter your original Sage 50 file.
Some examples of warnings:
- You have contacts in Sage 50 where the province and/or country is not indicated in the contact address. These are required fields in Accounting. When these fields are blank, they will be defaulted to your home province and Canada.
- You use prepaid sales and/or purchase prepayment accounts in Sage 50. These accounts will be combined with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
- You have a transaction in Sage 50 with a reference field that is too long for the reference field in Accounting. The reference will be shortened to the maximum length allowed in Accounting.
Errors Errors provide information on instances where the Migration Tool cannot process your data to produce a JSON file. In these instances, the Migration Tool has no way of manipulating the data in a way that will allow you to migrate.
Errors require you to make corrections in Sage 50 and reprocess the file using the Migration Tool.
Some examples of errors:
- You are trying to migrate foreign currency transactions. The Migration Tool does not support foreign currency transactions.
- You are trying to migrate a Sage 50 transaction which uses a tax code not supported in Accounting. For example, non-refundable HST or refundable PST.
- You have data inconsistencies in Sage 50 that need to be addressed before migrating.
- Inventory below zero is enabled
